Welcome to our Fall 2025 Newsletter! As you will read below, this season was defined by deep engagement with both our local communities and our professional colleagues. Staying active in these spaces allows us to remain at the forefront of mental health advocacy and education, ensuring we bring the most current insights back to our practice and our clients. We’ve had the privilege of partnering with local school districts, participating in roundtables on student success, and supporting essential task forces in the fight against substance abuse. Thank you for being a part of our journey as we continue to champion mental wellness across our Long Island communities.
Best of Long Island Nominations

The Gooding Wellness Group is incredibly honored to have received multiple nominations in this year's Best of Long Island competition.
For several years running, the practice as a whole has been nominated for Best Psychotherapist. Individually, we are thrilled to share that Lisa Current and Julia Purcaro were both nominated for Best Marriage Counselor. Furthermore, Gordon has been nominated for Best Social Worker, a category he was fortunate enough to win last year.
Our team is humbled and honored to be acknowledged in this island-wide event.
Cold Spring Harbor Library Roundtable Discussion

Gordon was honored to participate in a local Roundtable event at Cold Spring
Harbor Library titled, "Supporting Your Child in a Competitive Environment," sponsored by Cold Spring Harbor SEPTO (Special Education Teacher & Parents Organization) & FOCUS (Families of the Community United with Schools).
The engaging panel discussion, featuring mental health, college admissions, and executive functioning professionals, addressed a struggle all parents face: finding the balance between knowing when to encourage our children to push forward and when to let them slow down for success. We had a great turnout for this important discussion.
You can read more about the event on our blog here.
Podcast with Alex Kirton
In December, Gordon participated in the "Teachers Transition Podcast" with his former colleague, Alex Kirton. The podcast explores the journey individuals take after leaving the field of education, whether by "moving up the ranks" or transitioning into new projects and vocational and personal goals. It highlights the benefits of working in school systems and helps educators embrace the changes ahead, from retirement and entrepreneurship to advances in administration. Gordon shared an excellent conversation about his move from the public to the private sector and his work empowering families through counseling and other resources. It was a true pleasure and honor to be a part of Alex's podcast.
Liana Hits 10K Followers on Instagram!

Congratulations to Liana, the force behind @yourtrauma.therapist, for officially reaching the 10,000 follower milestone on Instagram! This achievement is a testament to Liana’s unique ability to blend clinical trauma expertise with an unfiltered, relatable voice that resonates deeply with her community. From her insightful breakdowns of EMDR and relational trauma to her signature use of pop culture and humor to destigmatize mental health, Liana has created a vital space for healing, boundaries, and post-traumatic growth. We are thrilled to see her impact continue to expand as she empowers more individuals to reclaim their self-worth and move from surviving to thriving.
Supporting Students at Local High School Resource Fairs

We are incredibly proud to have participated in two local high school resource fairs, offering mental health support and resources to students and staff. Our team had two wonderful and productive days in October.

On October 23rd, Peter Juliano and Marialaina Taldi attended Northport High School's RAP Week. A week later, on October 30th, Peter and Julia Purcaro were at Cold Spring Harbor High School's fair.
It was a true privilege to engage with these amazing students, hear their mental health priorities, and provide encouragement for well-being. A sincere thank you to both schools for the invitation; we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to connect with and support the next generation! 💙
Gordon Featured in Several Publications
Gordon was recently featured in several online publications for his expertise in mental health and resilience. In Counselor Brief, he shared a powerful cognitive restructuring technique—questioning "self-talk double standards"—to help individuals replace harsh self-criticism with the same compassion they would offer a loved one. His insights also contributed to a broader discussion in Psychology Brief where he emphasized the importance of proactive mental wellness. Additionally, in a feature for Grit Daily, Gordon explored the psychological impact of social media algorithms, warning how they can erode emotional resilience and "short-circuit" essential life skills. You can check out all of our contributions to publications and podcasts on our Media Mentions page.
Northport-East Northport Drug and Alcohol Task Force Color Run

Gooding Wellness Group proudly supported the Northport-East Northport Drug and Alcohol Task Force by participating in their annual Color Run on October 18th. This incredible community event not only promoted awareness for an important cause but also celebrated the strength of our community. Peter represented Gooding Wellness, connecting with participants and joining in the fun. We extend a huge thank you to the Task Force for their continuous dedication to serving and uplifting our community!
Father Peter Sweisgood & Gabriel's Giving Tree Healing & Recovery Breakfast

We were honored to attend the inspiring 2025 Father Peter Sweisgood & Gabriel's Giving Tree Healing & Recovery Breakfast at the Heritage Club. This important event brought together various organizations dedicated to supporting individuals and families impacted by substance abuse. Our team was proud to be part of this gathering, celebrating the significant work being done in our community to foster healing and recovery.
As we move further into the winter season and begin this new year, we remain deeply grateful for the trust you place in the Gooding Wellness Group. Whether we are connecting in the office, out in the community, or through our digital resources, our goal remains the same: to provide a compassionate space for healing and growth. We are honored to be a part of your wellness journey and look forward to everything the coming year has in store.
