LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy

We believe treating each other with love, respect, dignity, and compassion, is a basic human right, and essential to our well-being and sound mental health.

Among our most basic human needs is to feel safe and be loved and accepted by our family and those closest to us. Sadly, for many members of the LGBTQ+ community, this is not their reality. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people aged 10 to 24 in the U.S., and LGBTQ youth are more than four times as likely to attempt suicide compared to their heterosexual peers.

Due to the stigma and discrimination, including hate crimes and healthcare inequality, members of this community face, they are also more susceptible to higher rates of substance use, depression, and anxiety.

At Gooding Wellness, we recognize the essential role a family member, particularly a parent/caregiver, has in showing support for their loved ones in order to provide a safe and supportive environment for them to thrive. Our clinicians provide affirming therapy to LGBTQ+ people and their families using a wraparound approach. This means the entire family network is included in treatment to ensure everyone is working together and getting the support they need in each step of their journey.
