Good News from the Gooding Wellness Group: Summer 2026 | Gooding Wellness Group Summer Community Newsletter & Updates

Welcome to our fall update! As we trade summer days for autumn crispness, our team at Gooding Wellness is looking back with gratitude on a season filled with connection and community care.
Whether you’ve been a longtime friend of our practice or are just getting to know us, we hope you enjoy catching up on our summer highlights as we settle into the new season together.
Supporting Future Healthcare Leaders With The 4th Annual Huntington High School Scholarship

We are thrilled to announce that Alexa Mazure has been awarded the fourth annual Gooding Wellness Group Aspiring Helper Scholarship. Alexa, a member of the Huntington High School Class of 2026, plans to study nursing at Moravian University in Pennsylvania.
Huntington Assistant Principal Dr. Amy Cobelo presented the award—which includes a $250 stipend—on behalf of Gordon Gooding, Founder and Director of Gooding Wellness Group.
“The key to my success has been taking a nap every day after school to rejuvenate myself to then do homework,” Ms. Mazure shared. “I’ve enjoyed the music program the most through high school because it offers a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. It is also a way I de-stress from school by tuning out everything else and just focusing on playing my instrument.”
Throughout high school, Ms. Mazure excelled as a section leader in the marching band, President of the Gender & Sexuality Alliance, and Event Coordinator for A World of Difference. She is also an inducted member of the Art, Tri-M Music, Social Studies, and National Honor Societies.
The Aspiring Helper Scholarship recognizes a graduating senior who has overcome personal or academic challenges with resilience and demonstrated a strong commitment to serving others—whether through volunteerism, school leadership, or peer support—while pursuing a degree in healthcare, mental health, or education.
Gooding Wellness Staff Dinners at Harbor Mist

In June and August, our team gathered for our seasonal Gooding Wellness Team Dinners at Harbor Mist Restaurant in Cold Spring Harbor. Set against sweeping water views of the harbor, these evenings offer our clinical staff a dedicated space to unwind and enjoy exceptional local food together.
Beyond celebrating our shared work, these gatherings foster the strong peer support and ongoing collaboration that drive our practice. In the mental health field, clinician well-being is directly tied to client care—taking time to reconnect and support one another ensures our team stays energized, inspired, and grounded in providing compassionate, high-quality care to our North Shore community.
The Gooding Wellness Annual Caffeine, Calories & Connections Event at Sweetie Pies on Main

On Friday, July 1st, Gooding Wellness Group was delighted to host our annual Caffeine, Calories & Connections networking gathering in the charming garden behind Sweetie Pies on Main.
We had the distinct pleasure of bringing together local private practitioners, agency representatives, treatment facility staff, and dedicated healthcare providers for a morning centered on collaboration and community building.
Cultivating these vital professional relationships strengthens our collective network, allowing us to offer our clients broader resources and more coordinated, comprehensive care. On behalf of the entire Gooding Wellness team, we extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who attended!
Partnering in Recovery: Wellbridge Addiction Treatment Summer BBQ

In July, Liana and Peter attended the Wellbridge Annual Summer Party and BBQ in Calverton. Set against the beautiful grounds of the Wellbridge campus, it was an evening filled with wonderful food and fantastic company.
As one of the Northeast’s leading inpatient substance abuse treatment centers, Wellbridge remains a valued partner in our work. We collaborate closely through our Virtual Family Support Group, hosted every Tuesday evening by our own Liana Ross, LMHC. We are deeply grateful for Wellbridge’s hospitality and look forward to our continued partnership in supporting local families.
Free Online Parent Resource: "The Resilience Muscle" Email Series
This August, we released our third free online email course: “The Resilience Muscle: A Parent’s Guide to Raising Resilient Children.”
Designed specifically for Long Island parents, this 7-day email series is grounded in 30 years of clinical experience and the latest research on what it actually takes to raise a child who bounces back from adversity.
Each day’s message is practical, clinically grounded, and written in plain language. You won’t find generic advice here—just the honest, warm, and informed perspective Gordon shares with families in his office every day.
Town of Huntington Recovery Month Kick-Off & Parent Substance Education

Peter attended the Town of Huntington’s annual Recovery Month Kick-Off event. Held each year during National Recovery Month, this event honors individuals and families in recovery and celebrates long-term wellness in our local community.
Gooding Wellness is proud to house clinicians specializing in addiction, recovery, and family support. In tandem with Recovery Month, we invite parents to explore two key educational resources recently released by our team:
Read our latest blog post on the emerging dangers of Kratom sold in local gas stations and convenience stores.
Listen to our recent episode of The Good Exchange podcast where Gordon sits down with Steve Chassman from Wellbridge Addiction Treatment Center in Calverton to discuss local addiction trends, prevention, and practical advice for parent-teen conversations.
Our work is rooted in a simple belief: every individual and family deserves practical, expert support when navigating life's challenges. As we turn the corner into autumn, we remain deeply grateful for the trust you place in our clinicians every day.
Take care of yourselves and each other, and please don't hesitate to reach out whenever you need support.
